Supervise the daily workload in the Production Department, which manufactures test devices for food safety and sanitation.
Specific duties include:
Direct and coordinate the production analysts and technicians. Enforce lab safety and cleanliness/sanitation standards. Organize daily work schedules, assignments, and production sequences to meet production goals. Read and analyze schedules and other records to determine production requirements and evaluate current production estimates and outputs. Track operations data and prepare reports on production results. Ensure work progress is maintained at a high efficiency. (40%)
Detect out-of-specification production results by inspecting materials, products, and equipment. Test formulations, record and analyze the data, and make corrective improvements. (21%)
Train new employees in the productions department on company policies, safety procedures, and production equipment (autoclaves, high temperature ovens, tablet presses, turbula and drum mixers, chemical grinders and sifters, and all-fill media dispensers). Provide input regarding production worker performance. Make recommendations regarding hirings and promotions. (10%)
Prepare upcoming productions by tracking/screening/maintaining/ordering product raw materials. Batch and bulk dispensing formulations as needed for downstream processing or for direct to customer sale. Requisition equipment parts or repair services as needed. (10%)
Continually look for ways to make process improvements and increase analyst/technician productivity. (8%)
Order necessary items as needed for the Production Department as it pertains to daily lab use or clean room operation. (4%)
Set up, adjust, and operate lab equipment including all-fill machines, autoclaves, freeze driers, centrifuges, scintillation counters, sifters, grinders, and pouching machine. (2%)
Create new Standard Operating Procedures as new products arise and convert processes into SOP format. Maintain relevant SOPs and update them with any new changes. (2%)
Perform back up production analyst (biological technician) duties as needed. (3%)
Requirements: BS in Biochemistry, Biology or related field and 12 months experience as a Production Analyst (or other type of biological technician) utilizing Good Manufacturing Practices.
