QC Analyst I

Overview

The QC Analyst I is an entry-level, non-exempt position that reports to the QC Management Team.  The QC Analyst I is responsible for performing quality control testing on various state-of-the-art diagnostic tests, components and standards for the food and beverage industries.

Essential Functions

  • Perform quality control testing on various state-of-the-art diagnostic test kits, components and standards for the food and beverage industries.
  • Be part of a QC team dedicated to assuring the quality of these diagnostic tests for food safety.
  • Critically evaluate testing in process to determine root cause of out of specification results and carry out appropriate follow up as needed.
  • Prepare and summarize data in a timely manner for review by QC/QA management.
  • Ensure that lab cleanliness and safety standards are always maintained.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Required:

  • BS or equivalent in Biochemistry or life sciences related field.
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Word, Access, Excel and Outlook
  • Understanding of basic statistics
  • 0 to 2 years QC/QA experience
  • Available to work Monday through Friday between the hours of 8:30 AM and 5:30 PM with some flexibility.

Preferred:

  • Advanced knowledge of MS Excel
  • 0 to 2 years GMP/GLP experience
  • Understanding of aseptic/sterile technique
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Diligent and dependable
  • Ability to give and receive feedback.
  • Self-motivated

Physical Requirements:

  • Able to lift and move up to 25 pounds.
  • Able to work under the pressure of tight deadlines.
  • Able to visually inspect tests for proper performance and/or defects.
  • Able to remain in a stationary position for an extended length of time.
  • Able to work at a lab bench and at a computer for an extended length of time.
  • Able to work for 10 to 15 minutes in low temperature environments (4°C and -20°C)
  • Able to work for up to 4 hours in low humidity environment (<20% RH)
  • Able to safely handle antibiotics and mycotoxins in dry powder and concentrated liquid form in a laboratory setting.
  • Able to operate a pipette repeatedly and accurately for up to 1000 repetitions per day.
